Swedish Consul General
It is our pleasure to announce Thomas Mark has been appointed the Swedish Consul General for Detroit. Tom assumes this position after Lennart Johansson retired from this post in September. Lennart was active in this post for 20 years.
Tom Mark was born in Västerås, Sweden and came to the United States in 1963. He graduated Williams College with a BA and received an MBA from New York University. In 1976 he started working at SF Air Control (Fläkt) in Connecticut. He was transferred to Michigan in 1983 and took over in 1989 as head of ABB Paint Finishing. In 1996 Tom left ABB and began work at Detrex Corporation as President and has been CEO since 2001.
Tom has been active in the Swedish community in Michigan for over 30 years, having been on the board and as Chairman of the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce, Detroit and on the Detroit Swedish Foundation board.
